Non-Domestic Private Rental Regulations Unchanged.

In September 2023, the Prime Minister made a significant announcement regarding energy policy and commitments. One of the notable changes involved exempting homeowners and landlords from new energy efficiency regulations for residential properties. Initially, it was assumed that this exemption also applied to the non-domestic sector.

Nevertheless, the British Energy Efficiency Federation (BEEF) have now received official confirmation to the contrary. The government has clarified that the non-domestic Private Rented Sector (PRS) regulations, commonly referred to as Minimum Energy Efficiency Standards (MEES), were not included in the revised approach announced by the Prime Minister.

It comes as welcome news to see that the Government is committed to energy efficiency regulations.
